Livilence

Diwali lights outside the window,

Houseplants in the balcony billow,

A remote thrown on a sofa,

Everything once needs a nova,

Running, sliding, down the hallway,

Doesn’t seem so faraway,

Fairy lights and eucalyptus,

The moonlight, superstitious,

Bathe me in it too,

With a side of balcony view,

Remember the palm tree?

The leaf fall, i need to see,

And when it thunders like a sea,

Cats gather in the balcony,

Sunny day or not windchime,

The hiraeth lasts a lifetime…

And as the show comes to an end,

There lies a cat on my bed,

When Life fills the rooms,

Oh empty sunday essence fumes,

Bye bye pretty birds,

Thrums on a heartstring,

Pulled away like a missing word,

Once had, not missing…

The memories living…

Inspired by:

“The word livilence means the mix of eerie calmness and nostalgia when returning to the home you grew up in a long time after moving away. This poem is probably the most emotional one for me, I moved away from my home country four months ago and this poem is sort of a "flashback" to all of the moments I spent there. Much like a movie or a book, this poem is a remembrance of a story, a long live for a moment in my history.

I like to think of it as something I grew out of. That my destiny lied elsewhere and my hometown just couldn’t support my dreams anymore. It’s a growth that promises good things, yet snatches away all that you had, even though it was beautiful.”
