a world of octobers

when i grew up

i read many books,

always saw pieces

of myself in each one;

but i think i saw myself most

in anne of anne of green gables:

a spirited girl who always spoke

her mind—

grateful for a world she lived in

having octobers,

and october has always been

my favorite month and autumn my

favorite season;

there’s just something beautiful about

autumn, i’ve seen her described as a second

spring;

it is here where i grow into my truest self

finding comfort in the coziness of

sweaters and long skirts and the warmth

of the sun that doesn’t scorch like summer.
