Knightfall
“Why do we fall?”
The question circles
my brain
as I attempt to bring
my father’s legacy
to justice.
The night descends.
My playboy facade
slips away.
A familiar signal
breaks through the
shadows of the night.
The city needs me.
Why else
would a bat
illuminate the darkness?
All I can do
is try,
one night at a time,
to stop the shadows
from consuming
another innocent life.
I will not rest
until I free my city
from the darkness
that created me
or until a bullet
finds my heart.
